A recent article on a AED scavenger hunt got me interested in the topic, since I am interested in heart health. Having a working app seems like a great idea, similar to the Plugin App for finding electric car charging stations.
Yet despite the enormous investment in these AEDs, the death rate from sudden cardiac arrest is no better than it was 20 years ago. It still kills more Americans than lung, breast, and prostate cancers and AIDS combined. Worldwide, it kills about 7 million people a year.

In November 2007, Anna Malofiy awoke in her Southampton, Pa., home to find her husband, Eugene, shaking and unresponsive. She called 911 and attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A few minutes later, a police officer arrived with an automated external defibrillator (AED), the Powerheart model, made by Cardiac Science Corp. By administering an electric shock, such devices can save your life if your heart stops beating.

Colombia: at peace for now
Colombia appears to have disarmed and quieted FARC for now.
Now the right? wing government is in charge and allowing the corporations to use the country’s resources, FARC supporters are wondering when they’ll get a bit more land for their farming business as was part of the agreement.
With Venezuelans pouring in, how stable will the country remain?
Bernie kill shot and oil is the devil’s excrement
If you associate Bernie for president 2020 with socialism approaching communism, which most do, then watching this look at the destroyed state of Venezuela will swing you hard to the right.
A good part of the video includes a quote from the Oil Minister of Venezuela from the 1960s. He states, “ten years from now, twenty years from now, you will see; oil will bring us ruin. Oil is the Devil’s excrement.”
My guess is that the US would rather have Venezuela look like Colombia, which appears to be at the other side of the spectrum.
Both countries are sad cases compared to here, but it looks like Venezuela’s situation is more dire.
This is better than the movie
I will try and watch the movie again, but I still don’t understand how it won the Oscar – an increasingly irrelevant show.
Breanna Gray still can’t believe the pizza box-folding abilities she honed as a teenager are now part of movie history.
